You see different people react to different situations and sometimes you wonder if there is a pattern to things. Most often than not there is one. Some of them are easy to figure than others but point is that in almost 95% of the cases, there is a definite pattern to people's thoughts and actions. One definitive indicator is their past. Past actions, situations, consequences do tend to determine who or how a person tends to shape up and I believe most people tend to fall in this bracket or mold of human behavior evolution.

Then there are those that aren't like the rest. A few make a conscious choice to not let the past (I am referring to it in a negative connotation here) affect their present. They willfully choose to make decisions about the present being in the present. Kind of like being in a neutral, fair state. Of course I am not trying to discount the value of experience but that's not the point here. The thing that separates these kinds from the rest is their willingness to learn each day and not let their past overshadow their present. That quality also makes them humble even though they clearly seem to overachieve as compared to their peers and are a much happier lot. I mean how often do you see a person that is super talented, super successful, super modest and super happy? Yet every once in a while you might meet one of these kinds and you have nothing but respect.

I think it boils down to the fact that how many of us are willing to adapt and learn from each experience. I think most (if not all) of us know we can (and probably should) but it's something we don't consider as an important part of life. At least after a certain stage in life.

I, for one, salute the few. They seem to transcend the realms of morality and religion (probably very loosely used here) but having said that I have seen that the true Christians do seem to belong to that few.

I haven't written in a long time but this article struck a chord:
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/10/opinion/sunday/living-with-less-a-lot-less.html?pagewanted=all&_r=1&

I know I am a much happier person with the simple pleasures. Not everyone is the same so I don't expect it to be the case for all but I know who I am and got a timely reminder.

For the umpteenth time, back to the basics.

I know I'm truly blessed to be living this life. I don't acknowledge Him enough, but I truly am grateful for His blessings. He protects me in spite of my shortcomings which makes me want to be a better person. Kinda the entire point of grace. Grace never compels you but it's very nature transforms into a better human being.

Thank you.

B:       Arshu, what would you like to be after you grow up?
Arshu: I want to grow up and become a mommy.

B:        Aarish, now that you've grown up, we need to have a serious mano-e-mano talk.
Aarish: Ok
B:         Aarish, where do you see yourself 3 years from now?
Aarish:  Ummmm...in the mirror.

Anfield Calling

Cautious optimism. That's what it is all about at Liverpool lately. If you know anything about football, you would probably agree that Brendan has us finally playing the right way. The Liverpool way. I just hope the owners stick to their guns and give Brendan time. This isn't going to change overnight, it's definitely the style we should be playing in. We're going to have bad nights when things don't click but the more we stick to this style, the more the consistency will come.

I still think we're woefully short in the striking department but look at what Brendan has done to our setup. It's like 3 new signings for us. For eons I have been crying out loud to give our youngsters some serious game time and Rodgers has done just that. Raheem Sterling and Suso have been more than impressive. I wouldn't call it surprising, we just needed a manager who had the b**** to play them. Andre Wisdom, however, has been a revelation to me, didn't know he was that good. I think he has the potential to become a better RB than Kelly who I think is good but again, way too one-dimensional in his play. Kelly is amazing in defence but going forward he has a very predictable way of attacking. Wisdom seems to have that extra bit of talent to make things happen. Sterling and Suso are just stars in the making.

No matter what the consequence this season, Liverpool is going to be an exciting team to watch. Now if only we could buy (or probably unearth another gem from the academy) another striker to finish off our passing style, we could see a lot more impressive Liverpool this season.

But (in typical Brendan style) "like I say", I'm cautiously optimistic.

One of those days when you're kicked around, shoved around but still manage to bang in 2 goals. The team wins by a comfortable 3 goal margin. Such a high.

And now to meeting my kiddos. Looking forward to Richmond and just some time off with the kids.

My fitness will be screwed after 2 weeks again but right now, I couldn't care less.

Another 7 days to go before my Richmond trip. Wohoo! Looking forward to taking a break from work. Man, the kids have grown.

Fundamentals of Caring

Timely reminder that there is so much good in this world if we could only keep it simple. This movie (and the book it is based on) shows us...
