I like doing nothing

NYC was fabulous. Boston done. Portland beautiful as ever. Only Chicago remains. Now I would like to catch up on some sleep. Tonight will watch a movie, dinner at home and pelke sleep.

I am working this weekend, yes I know it sucks but tonight is my break night. Just laze at home, good movie and hopefully tomorrow doesn't come. Actually what I would like most is December 10th comes tomorrow...and of course India vacation lasts forever. I don't think I am going to be doing much before that. Maybe a ski trip and something for Thanksgivings. That's it.

I am itching to get back home..

What's in the Name?

A lot. Consider this: "Oommen"

Think (and carefully re-read the spelling) about this word I just typed above. Whoever came up with this name for the first time in human history was most definitely out of his mind or drunk or wasn't serious about it. But evidently someone was and went ahead with it. And whoever followed it up and continued with it was not only out of his mind but thought it would be fun to see how long it lasted.

I have always wondered what went through my grandpa's mind when he named Dad "Oommen". I love grandpa a lot so I am going to keep it at that. What's equally weird is that mallus for some reason find it profound thinking to give the son, in inheritance, as surname, his Dad's name. What joy, no? (else I would've been Binoy Abraham)

Maybe, just maybe I won't let that guy have so much fun.

Near Perfection

Boston. Done.
Living in Manhattan. Done.
Saturday Night at Times Square with a close friend. Done.
US Open, Arthur Ash Stadium, Courtside, Elena Dementieva - Samantha Stosur, cheering Elena till I lose my voice. Done.
Lunch at Little Italy. Done.

Done - Dona - Done... Done. (OK, I agree that was lame but I'll let it be)

Maybe Liverpool at Anfield next? Why not?

Koi Shakh?!? Aich! Life is bhery bhery good. :)

A lot of my south Indian friends (kinda unanimously) have mentioned that they don't like mallus because they consider themselves superior to others. I never made too much of it cause I find mallus pretty funny until recently when I came across exactly the kinds mentioned by them. This guy actually thinks "mallus are superior". I mean he said it without blinking or pausing to think what he was about to say. Matter of fact kinds. I was shocked to see his reaction which was like... "What? Did I say something wrong?"
I am not trying to generalize all mallus but either way I was pretty shocked to find that these kinds exist.

In other news, I managed to shock someone in racquetball today. :)
Sports always gives me a high, especially defeating the supposedly invincible kinds.

Double Aich!

I don't know when next this phenomenon might occur but while it has, might as well feel the love :)

I miss the final game of the season, off for the long weekend but I leave top of the league. (and also the only Indian in the list :) ....heck yeah!)

Shaan

I was seeing Indian Idol 5 (pretty randomly) and one of the top 3 sang this song "Chand Sifarish" from Fanaa. The judges, Aamir and the entire Peepli Live crew were full of praise for the soulful performance from this guy.

He probably was as good as they said he was but just then I realized no one can match up to Shaan, especially in that song. People talk about how much "heart" or "jasbaat" there is in this song and even though  this guy did a good (maybe splendid) job of it but it still didn't come close to Shaan's voice and just the life he brings to a song.

Enjoy!

Because.

I'm giving myself a month to test my resolve. Not sure if it's a good or bad decision.

I wanna see what changes in 30 days.

Fundamentals of Caring

Timely reminder that there is so much good in this world if we could only keep it simple. This movie (and the book it is based on) shows us...
